What is your role at CCC? Pastoral Team Leader

What do you do at CCC? I oversee the pastoral team and provide direct leadership to our children's ministry and small group ministry.

How and when did you come to CCC? Christine and I were student interns at High Point Baptist Chapel 1990-1991.  During this time, High Point was interested in planting other churches, which was also the desire of my heart.  We evaluated several different communities and sensed God leading us to the Denver area.  We began meeting in a small group in August of 1991, and our first service was held in March 1992.

What is your educational and ministry background?

Education: B.S. - Baptist Bible College - 1987
MDiv - Baptist Bible Seminary - 1991

Ministry: Pastoral team leader at CCC, 1992- present

Tell me about your spiritual journey.  How did you become a follower of Christ? After breakfast, during the summer before my 5th birthday, I asked my dad how a person goes to heaven.  He explained the gospel to me and I invited Jesus into my life.  I remembered the joy of wanting tell my grandparents about this decision.  In my teen years, my high school advisor Dave Moon, was a significant example of a consistent Christian both in school and on the sports field.  I wanted to keep growing and had a desire to be a pastor.  This led me to BBC and BBS for my training.  These schools provided a solid foundation for my life and ministry.  God continues to use his word, godly counselors and spiritual mentors in my life to mold and shape me as I follow him.

What is your favorite section of the Bible? The Gospels.  I want to know Jesus' life and ministry so my life can be a reflection of him!

What kind of music do you listen to? Contemporary Christian Music and light jazz.

What is your favorite thing to do, beside serving at CCC? Jogging, hiking with my family, playing golf and other sports, hanging out with my family and friends.

Tell us about your family. Christine and I met in college during our sophmore year.  I was smitten with her but had much to learn about relationships (a long story).  Eventually I won her over and we were married in July of 1988.  Our love for each other continues to grow.  The adventure of marriage has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life.  We enjoy life together and serving God and the church family at CCC.  We have been blessed with two children.  Alicia is in college at BBC studying secondary education in history and growing in her leadership skills.  Daniel is in middle school and enjoys a variety of sports as well as spending time with friends.

What is your dream for CCC? My dream for CCC from the very beginning was that it would be a place people would know and understand the truth of the gospel and choose Jesus as their Savior and Lord.  My dream for CCC is that those who follow Jesus would continue to grow and be changed, and that God would be transforming people to be more like Jesus in their thoughts, actions and words!  I dream about us creating environments in which people are deeply loved and pointed to Jesus.  I dream about us serving others selflessly, giving generously, worshipping passionatly and loving Jesus more than anything or anyone in our lives.
